Get Involved in STEMtember
Whether you’re a parent, educator, or community partner, there are numerous ways to participate. From family-friendly activities to professional networking events, we invite you to be a part of this exciting initiative. Let’s inspire the next generation of STEM leaders together!
STEM Statistics:
What is the reason behind STEMtember and TRSA’s emphasis on spreading the message that STEM is accessible to all individuals?
- Only 44% of U.S. high school graduates are ready for college-level math, and only 36% are ready for college-level science.
- Hispanic and Black workers are only 8% and 9% of the STEM workforce, despite making up 17% and 11% of the total workforce.
- 30% of girls and 40% of women say that they picture scientists and engineers as men. However, middle school girls who participate in STEM activities are more than 2x as likely to want to study physics in high school, and almost 3x as likely to want to study engineering.

Request a Yard Sign
Any of our Tulsa-area partners can request one of our “STEM Happens Here” yard signs. These signs are available at various YMCA locations across Tulsa. Just fill out a request form, and we’ll send you an email with instructions on how to pick up your sign, subject to availability.
Once you have the sign, proudly display it in front of your home, school, or business for the entire month of September. And when October comes around, you can keep the sign – it’s yours to own. However, if you’re able to, we encourage you to save and reuse the sign for the following year.
