The M4 Cart is equipped with approx. 20 board games that are standards-aligned for 3rd grade. Mentors will be trained on strategies they can use to help support students while playing the games, as well as given guidance on what topics to cover throughout the year that best align with what students are learning in the classroom.
We are full for the 2023-24 school year. Interested in Math Mentor for 2024-25? Sign up on our interest form! There will be mentor trainings in the early fall.
Schools
In partnership with schools across the Tulsa metro area, we offer our program at your site completely free of charge. We handle all the logistics, including providing the necessary games and materials, as well as recruiting, background-checking, and training mentors. In return, schools are responsible for designating a site facilitator and assisting in student recruitment.
Partners
Businesses and community organizations that adopt a site agree to provide 4-10 volunteers weekly for 30 minutes of gameplay focusing on math skills. We work with each school and partner to determine a regular schedule and program capacity and provide all of the materials and training that volunteer groups need.
Volunteers No prior experience is required to become a mentor! Anyone who can perform basic mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division can contribute to supporting students through our math games. We offer comprehensive training and equip mentors with effective strategies to create an enjoyable learning environment for students.
“Math Mentors is a powerful and meaningful partnership for our students and the mentors. The program created an opportunity for full family engagement that lead to an overall increase in all academic areas. Parents were invested, students were highly engaged, and the classroom teachers loved the additional support.” Lindsay Smith, Principal, Moore Elementary
