The 2019-2020 OSU-RET program is now accepting applications from Pairs of Oklahoma Science Teachers

Application deadline is Thursday April 26th, 2019

The OSU Research Experience for Teachers (RET) is a 6-week summer research experience for teachers, which provides pairs of science teachers, from the same school or school district, with an authentic research apprenticeship. The RET program also provides selected teachers with professional development on how to mentor students in science research and coach them in science fair competitions. The OSU RET program includes follow-up days during the 2019-2020 school year and an opportunity to present research at a national conference.

RET Program expectations:
  • Approximately 40 hours per week for 6-weeks, between May 30th – July 11th, in a research lab on the OSU Stillwater Campus and biweekly professional development;
  • Develop and teach a standards-based lesson that transitions your authentic research into classroom practice;
  • Mentor 4-5 students in science research and science fair competitions during the 2019-2020 school year;
  • Attend 4 follow-up meetings (two in the fall and two in the spring);
  • Present research at the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT) conference;
  • Complete program assessments.

Selected RET participants will receive $4,000 for their summer research experience with the potential of earning an additional $1500 at the completion of the 2019-2020 school year.
