Recieve funding for FIRST Robotics through American Electric Power

The Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO)’s parent company, American Electric Power (AEP), provides grants to robotics teams. These grants are available for teams within the company’s 11-state service area.

Grants

Grants are available up to these levels: 

  • FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) (high school) — up to $6,000
  • FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) (high school) – up to $2,000
  • FIRST LEGO League (FLL) (ages 9-14) – up to $500
  • Junior FIRST LEGO League (JrFLL) (ages 6-9) – up to $250

There is a limit of one grant per program, e.g. FRC, FTC, FLL or JrFLL, per school or organization per year.

Application Process

AEP offers an online competitive grant process with an annual deadline of midnight the fourth Friday in January.  Applications are reviewed and grants awarded in the spring for the following competition season. 

The application link is www.AEP.com/go/AEPFIRSTgrant   If this is your first time using the AEP on-line application, please click the “New applicant” link, enter a valid email address, create and enter a password, enter a federal tax ID number and begin filling out the application.  When you are ready to save for later or to submit, click the appropriate link.  A screen with a note “Thank You! Your application has been submitted” will appear, and n email confirmation with a link to your application will be sent to the email address you provided.  If you don’t see either of these, your application has not been submitted.
