Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance (TRSA) and Flight Night are proud to announce Oklahoma students’ science experiments are planned to launch to the International Space Station (ISS) at 10:17 A.M. CST on SUNDAY, DEC. 6, 2020. Once launched to the ISS, astronauts will complete the students’ experiments and return them back to Earth for post-flight analysis.

In 2019, students across Oklahoma designed experiments and presented their proposals at TRSA’s Tulsa Research Kids event. Local researchers and STEM professionals served as judges and chose six students, or three teams, as winners. The participating students attend Jenks Southeast Elementary and Summit Christian Academy.

Funded by Flight Night, and through the partnership of DreamUp and Nanoracks, LLC, this competition was designed to inspire students to think critically about the world around them and beyond. Through this initiative, students have created imaginative, testable experiments using science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Space exploration captures students’ imagination and instills a passion for STEM programs. Additionally, exposing students to STEM-based curriculum helps foster a passion that develops into valuable skills that will aid these students in their future careers.
