Where Questions Become Discoveries
Curiosity is where discovery begins — and the Tulsa Regional Science Fair is where it comes to life!
Students from across Tulsa and Creek counties come together to explore their ideas, showcase original research, and compete for exciting prizes and opportunities that can launch their STEM journey to the next level.
Whether you’re a student ready to explore your own question, a teacher guiding young scientists, or a family cheering from the sidelines — this fair is for you.

Why It Matters
The Science Fair is more than a competition — it’s a celebration of curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and communication.
By participating, students will:
Gain hands-on experience using the scientific method
Receive feedback from real scientists, engineers, and educators
Compete for prizes and scholarships
Build skills that shine on college applications and beyond
Have a chance to advance to:
Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair (OSSEF)
March 27, 2026, Stillwater, OKInternational Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF)
May 9-15, 2026, Phoenix, AZ
Around 20 projects move on to OSSEF — and the top two advance to ISEF!
Participation
Join the Tulsa Regional Science Fair for an exciting opportunity to put your curiosity into action! Students will conduct independent research and share their discoveries with volunteer judges, who evaluate each project’s creativity, scientific process, and depth of understanding. Top projects earn prizes and the chance to advance to state and international science fairs.
How to Get Started
The STEM Wizard platform makes registration simple — whether you’re a student, teacher, or parent.
Registration Steps
Teachers register first in the STEM Wizard Portal and receive approval before student registrations can be activated.
Students create their own accounts once their teacher has been approved.
Upload your required ISEF forms
Complete each milestone — you’ll get notifications along the way
Celebrate your curiosity at the fair!
Team Projects
Up to 3 students per team
One shared project registration
Each student submits their own Form 1B and Parental Consent Waiver
Free to participate, resources and support available!
The Tulsa Regional Science Fair is affiliated with the International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF), ensuring that all projects meet the highest safety and ethics standards. All approvals must be received before experimentation begins.
To Qualify
Submit all required ISEF forms before beginning your experiment
Keep originals for state competition
Missing forms = disqualification
All projects must submit:
Form 1 – Checklist for Adult Sponsor
Form 1A – Student Checklist
Form 1B – Approval Form

Use the ISEF Rules Wizard to determine which forms you need.
Special Approvals
Certain projects require extra review for safety and additional paperwork.
Extra reviews are required with:
Human Subjects: Need approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB)
Vertebrate Animals / Microorganisms: Require Scientific Review Committee (SRC) approval
Contact Dr. Emily Mortimer for guidance or SRC approval.
Additional forms may be required:
Form 1C – Regulated Research / Industrial Setting: For projects conducted somewhere other than home, school, or the field.
Form 2 – Qualified Scientist: Required before research involving humans, vertebrate animals, or hazardous chemicals/biological agents.
Form 3 – Risk Assessment: Required before work with hazardous chemicals, devices, or activities; may also apply to other projects.
Form 4 – Human Participants: IRB approval needed before recruitment or data collection.

Reasons Projects are Rejected
- Incomplete Student Checklist (1A)
- Must include proposed and actual start and end dates
- Must include a detailed research plan
- Must have all work site information completed
- Missing signatures on required forms
- Missing additional forms for human, vertebrate animal, or hazardous agent testing
- Incorrect or incomplete Abstract
- Must be in the proper format and must be without acknowledgments
- Does not reflect the current year’s work done by the student(s)
- Does not include prior year’s paperwork (for continuing projects only)
- Continuing projects, even those with a clear demonstration of significant progress, must provide the prior year’s research (1A and Research Plan attachment)
- Consider the project a continuing project if prior work has been done in the same general research area
Tips for Success
- Be sure projects are entered in the appropriate category.
- Example: a project researching the effectiveness of heart monitors should NOT be entered in Plant Science.
- Be sure all documentation is complete and thorough.
- More detail is ALWAYS better!
