Turkey Mountain Leave No Trace Student Day
March 27 at 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Event PostponedThis event has been postponed until further notice. We will update the page as soon as more details are available.
Tulsa’s very own Turkey Mountain has been selected as a 2020 Leave No Trace Hot Spot location. This allows for week-long community-wide environmental education opportunities. Part of this includes a Student Day at Riverfield Country Day School happening on Friday, March 27th from 9:00 am-2:00 pm. This allows a select number of sixth-grade students in the area to learn more about Leave No Trace and outdoor environmental education. Students will receive a certificate for their participation. This hands-on approach is a great chance to get the classroom engaged in outdoor learning and applicable for grades 6th- 8th.
This event includes:
· Introduction to Leave No Trace 7 Principles
· Field trip to Turkey Mountain
· Enviroscape water impact exploration
Opportunities for Transportation reimbursement are available through the Tulsa Regional Stem Alliance. Please submit your application through the Google Forums Link provided below:
We have availability for a select number of sixth-grade students. Preference will be given but not limited to schools in close proximity to Turkey Mountain. The order of submission will also be taken into consideration. Riverfield Country Day School is located at 2433 W 61st St, Tulsa, OK. Please use the attached Google form link to submit an application to join in on this program. Because of the upcoming Spring Break we ask that applications be returned by March 13th. This event is sponsored by Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, the Tulsa Urban Wilderness Coalition, Riverfield Country Day School and the Westside YMCA of Tulsa.
