Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance and Flight Night are ready to launch Siegfried Space Week, which will take place May 9-13, 2022.
Siegfried Space Week will include interactive space-themed activities for students that promote STEM identity and STEM career awareness regarding aviation and space exploration. Professional development workshops will also be available for educators.
Opportunities for Schools
Tulsa Metro Schools
OPTION 1 > Apply for a field trip to our Tulsa-based Space Week to experience interactive space-themed activities, including a presentation by an astronaut. This content is intended for fourth and fifth-grade students, and admission is free. Field trips are available on May 9, May 10, and May 13. The specific location will be announced upon school selection.
OPTION 2 > Apply to have an astronaut come to your school. This content is intended for students in grades six through twelve. Schools must have a large presentation area with seating, such as a gym or auditorium that is equipped with audio and visual capabilities. Schools must be in the Tulsa-Metro area. Presentations will be scheduled for May 12.
Rural Schools Near Okmulgee County
OPTION 3 > Apply for a field trip to the Okmulgee-based Space Week event. Students will experience a special presentation with an astronaut. Content is intended for students in grades six through twelve. Entry is free. Field trips are available on May 11. The specific location will be announced upon school selection.
If you are interested in participating, please complete the Siegfried Space Week outreach application by 11:55 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2022. Space is limited, so get your applications in soon! Applicants will be notified of location details upon acceptance.

Rocketry 101 | Elementary Educators
Join us for Rocketry 101: Inspiring the Artemis Generation, a STEM Professional Development Workshop for Elementary Educators!
Participants in this fast-paced hands-on STEM educator PD will uncover exciting ways to bring the concepts of Newton’s Laws, trajectory, forces, motion, the engineering design process and much more to their classroom! Activities will include fizz rockets, Hero’s engines, 2-liter water bottle rockets, straw rockets (both human and launcher powered), stomp rockets, foam rockets, and more. Links to NASA’s up and coming Artemis missions and corresponding classroom resources will be made.

Cost: Free! Materials and lunch are included, and funding is available for substitute reimbursement.

Robotics on a Dime | Middle School Educators
Join us for Robotics on a Dime and the Math of Making Sundials, a STEM Professional Development Workshop for Middle School Educators!
You may be asking yourself- what do robotics and sundials have in common? Have you wanted to implement robotics into your classroom but don’t have the budget for the kits? Then this PD is the answer for you! Participants will be immersed in activities that illuminate the engineering side of robotics while creating a robotic arm with various end effectors, robotic fingers, a robotic hand, a wire end effector, and a sundial. Links will be made for each activity to NASA technology and current missions which use that technology!
