2021 Cimarex Sonia Kovalevsky Week

Levi PatrickSTEM News

Sonia Kovalevsky was a groundbreaking female mathematician. Sonia was the first woman to earn a modern doctorate degree in mathematics and one of the first women to work for a scientific journal as an editor. We celebrate her accomplishments every spring, and highlight opportunities for women in Math.

This year, Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance is thrilled to offer the virtual Cimarex Sonia Kovalevsky Week from May 17-21, 2021.

Beginning with a virtual keynote from Cimarex CEO Tom Jorden on Monday, the week will celebrate women in STEM, and challenge students to critically think about math issues in the real world. The week will conclude with an interactive, live-streamed Women in STEM panel.

Daily challenges presented via video by STEM professionals will challenge students to think critically and work together to create solutions.

All activities for this week, with the exception of the live Women in STEM panel, will be made available virtually on Monday, and can be worked through at the individual teacher and class pace.

Limited spots are available for participation. Please click here to register your class and/or students online.
